I'm sure you have wondered why a bully bullyies. In order to get to the bottum of this mystery, we must look behind the scenes. Just like in the movies, there are things going on with your bully that you don't see. We must look at the big picture, instead of the 12 x 12 screen we see when we are the victim of bullying. We must take everything into presective.
One thing you should know is that bullies are insecure. They bully others to make themselves feel better. Most of the time (like 99.99%), something else is going on with your bully. You never know what is happening at home! For all you know, your bully could have lost a parent or worse! Don't be too quick to jugde! You must keep your eyes open to the possibility that they (your bully) is going through something when they act out and bully. That DOES NOT make bullying right but maybe now you can better understand your bully! Sometimes, bullying is a way to get attention. Some people aren't sure how to ask for help and all they know is bullying and meanness. Bullying isn't always to hurt someone else, sometimes it's a way to sceam for help.
Friendship Bytes got in contact with a former bully, Jessica to dicuess why she bullyied. Below is our interview with Jessica.
FriendshipBytes: Hello, Jessica. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feeling on being a former bully. Let's get started! Our first question is: Why did you bully? Jessica: Well... it's a long story. You see my dad was sent to jail and I was really angry and upset at him but I also missed him. I didn't know what to do with all of my strong feelings. And, my mom was too busy in and out of court, making sure she cut him off from the will and stuff... I couldn't talk to her. I started bullying my classmates as a way to let out my feelings. I never meant to hurt anyone. FriendshipBytes: So, you didn't realize how much of an impact your bullying had on others? Jessica: No, not at all! I was just doing it to help myself. I never woke up and said, "I wonder how I can hurt Chris today?" That's not me! I never planned to hurt anyone. I am so sorry that I did and I really wish I could take all those hurtful words back. FriendshipBytes: Why did you stop bullying? Jessica: One of the girls I was bullying went to the teacher and told her what was going on. The school sat me down and helped me to see that there were many other ways, much better ways to let out my feelings. FriendshipBytes: Thank you for your time, Jessica! We are glad to hear you found better ways of letting your feeling out! |
